Advice for Novice WordPress Users
Are
you a novice WordPress user? You’d already know of its many
benefits, which is why you are using one. But are you really availing
WordPress to the utmost? If you are starter, we doubt it. Ask a
WordPress developer in Sydney, and they will
help you out.
In
the meanwhile, we have some great tips for WordPress beginners, which
we’d like to share with you. Read on to find out.
Schedule posts
What
kind of schedule do you follow for your content? Daily, weekly or
monthly? You can use WordPress to schedules these posts, upon which
they will automatically be uploaded on the date and time that you
specify.
Access
the Edit screen from the backend, and find the Publish button. There
is an Edit
option, next to this button; click to specify an appropriate date and
time. When you are done, Schedule for
will be displayed along with your chosen date, next to the Publish
button.
Modify your URLs if required
Generally,
WP does a good job with URLs, but there might be times when changes
are required. For instance, if the URL contains special characters
like &, % or @, you should change it because search engines don’t
read these characters easily. Plus, some browsers may also prevent
the page from loading. You may also want to change the URL to
optimise it further for SEO.
Access
the Edit screen, and notice an Edit
button, right next to the permalink. Click Edit,
and change the URL into an appropriate form. Click Ok,
and then Update
or Publish
to save changes.
If
there is no Edit
option, next to the permalink, you will see notice Change
Permalinks. Click this option, and then
select Post name
from the Permalink Settings menu. Save changes, and you should now
see an Edit
button on the page.
Keep
in mind that you should change URLs before publishing the post.
Embed media
You
can embed videos and other content form from popular platforms such
as YouTube and Twitter. Place your cursor at the point where you
want to embed the video, tweet or another form. Copy the video URL
from the source site, and paste it in the main area of the WP editor.
The URL should be in a separate line without any alignments. When you
post, WordPress will embed the video, but you will only see the URL
in the editing area.
